Precautions for Operation and Maintenance of Wind Turbine Slip Rings

 

(1) Special personnel shall be responsible for the inspection and maintenance of wind turbine slip rings. On-site procedures should specify the time and frequency of inspections (not less than 2 times a week). Staff entering the site should take protective measures.

 

(2) When regularly inspecting the wind turbine collector ring, you should check the following items:

a. The spark of the carbon brush of the wind turbine collector ring; when a large spark is found, it should be closely monitored and the excitation current should be reduced. If it does not improve, the cause should be found out as soon as possible, and even the shutdown should be decoupled to avoid accidents.

b. The temperature and temperature rise of the collector ring surface of the wind turbine; the temperature rise shall not exceed 80K, and the temperature shall not exceed 120°C.

c. Whether the surface color of the collector ring of the wind turbine is bright or not, and whether there is any discoloration;

d. Whether there is any dust and oil on the surface of the brush holder and wind turbine collector ring. If there is any, use a vacuum cleaner to suck off or wipe the oil on the contact surface of the brush with a dry cloth.

e. Whether the electric brush jumps, and whether the connection between the brush braid and the carbon brush is intact.

f. Sampling check the current on the brush braids. If the current is a few amperes lower, check the distribution current of the brushes, find the cause of the brush with a small current, and take measures to restore the current

 

(3) Replace the brushes. When checking the brushes, they can be pulled out from the brush box in sequence. Under normal circumstances, when changing the brushes, generally only 2 brushes can be changed. Before the brush is replaced, it should be ground on an abrasive tool with the same diameter as the collector ring of the wind turbine.After replacing the carbon brush with a new one, the number of inspections should be strengthened within 3-5 days.

 

(4) During the overhaul of the generator, do a good job in the inspection and maintenance of the collector ring of the wind turbine. Check the smoothness of the wind turbine collector ring surface, whether there are burrs in the groove, and whether the brush holder parts are loose; take measures to prevent the wind turbine collector ring from being damp.

 

(5) If the unit runs for a long time, the cleaning of carbon powder and dust at the carbon brush of the collector ring of the wind turbine should be strengthened to avoid affecting the insulation resistance.

 

During the use of wind turbine collector rings, the more likely situation is the wear and tear of the wind turbine collector rings. After the wear reaches a certain level, it needs to be replaced in time, so that it can be used smoothly. As for the replacement of the wind turbine electrical ring, it is necessary to grasp the replacement time. Under normal circumstances, as long as it has been worn to two-thirds of the original height, it needs to be replaced. Therefore, maintenance personnel must do a good job in this aspect of maintenance.

 

When the maintenance personnel find that the ellipticity of the wind turbine collector ring is high, the maintenance work to be done is turning. The main purpose of this is to perform shockproof treatment, so as to avoid the wear of the brushes.
